๐ŸŽ™️ Entry 2: Finding My Voice - From Tech Setups to Character Play

Hey hey! Welcome back to Gemu VoKS, and this time, we’re diving into Session 2 of my voice acting training.

If Session 1 felt like the first step into a brand-new world, this one felt like finally turning the lights on.
Ang daming natutunan - from the technical side of recording to the creative side of developing your voice.
Let’s get into it!

๐ŸŽง Morning Session: How to Set Up a Recording Studio (with Bryan Perez)

The morning kicked off with Sir Bryan Perez guiding us through the basics of setting up a home recording studio.
We talked about different types of microphones - dynamic, condenser, cardioid — and kung kailan mo dapat gamitin ang USB vs XLR setup.
He also introduced us to using an audio interface and how to sound treat your recording area so your voice comes out clean and crisp.

Honestly, this part was super enjoyable for me since I’ve always liked tinkering with tech.
When we started talking about sound editing and mixing using Audacity and Adobe Audition, I was hooked.
I even tried to replicate Sir Bryan’s demo on my own while he was explaining the steps — parang hands-on learning agad!

It felt rewarding to finally understand how to clean up a recording properly, especially in Audacity, which I’ve used a bit before pero hindi pa ganito ka-detailed.

๐ŸŽญ Afternoon Session: Developing and Marketing Your Voice (with Papa Lem Ferolino)

Now this - this - was the part that really pulled me in.
Papa Lem’s session focused on “playing” with your voice and creating character personalities through tone, rhythm, and energy.
We talked about the 3 key elements of voice acting: Pitch, Volume, and Tempo.
Then we moved into the 6 elements of creating character voices:
Pitch, Pitch Character, Tempo, Rhythm, Placement, and Mouthwork.

It was fascinating how each tweak in pitch or rhythm can completely change a character’s vibe.
Papa Lem encouraged us to experiment, to have fun, and to bring out the voice that tells a story — not just reads lines.

We also touched on marketing your brand as a voice artist, though we didn’t go too deep since most of the time went into exploring how to develop and control our voices.

๐ŸŽค Reflections

This session felt closer to what I originally envisioned when I signed up - a crash course into what could become my focus if I pursue this seriously.
From the technical side to the creative side, everything clicked together.
It made me realize that voice acting isn’t just about talking - it’s about crafting an experience.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Outro

And that wraps up Session 2!
I’m honestly excited about where this is heading. Each class feels like another piece of the puzzle coming together.

If you’ve ever thought of trying voice acting, maybe this is your sign - it’s never too late to start.
See you sa next entry, and as always, stay tuned to Gemu VoKS ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽ™️
